TEHRAN – Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad issued a message on Monday congratulating Vladimir Putin on his victory in the Russian presidential election.

 

Putin won a resounding victory in the election on Sunday, securing a new six-year term in the Kremlin.

 

According to the results, Putin got about 64 percent of the votes, with his closest rival Gennady Zyuganov getting 17.18 percent of the vote.
